Gunnar BaldwinGunnar Baldwin, CLIPP

Gunnar Baldwin earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Yale and Brown Universities, respectively. He left teaching in college preparatory schools after 16 years. Starting in the 1970s, he pioneered low-consumption toilets to the commercial and residential plumbing markets, not so much to save water but to reduce the environmental impact of wastewater. As a TOTO USA Water Efficiency Specialist, he has represented TOTO on several green building-related committees and is a charter director of the Alliance for Water Efficiency. During the past seven years, Gunnar has taken a great interest in universal design, and has a mission to see that both socially and environmentally sustainable strategies should become standard best practices in all design.
